The News Team
The news team is the ideal place for anyone interested in current events and likes to get to the bottom of what's going on. News broadcasting is very important to us, whether we're discussing current national and international events, or providing in depth insight into things happening on campus, news programming is a large part of our talk output.
During normal term time the news team run the flagship breakfast show Good Morning Lancaster (GML), that takes a lighter approach to the days stories through a mixture of music and news. In addition to this, we put on bi-weekly news and views shows that debate topical current affairs, ranging from what's happening on campus to the latest breaking news around the world - this involves listeners through telephone calls, emails and text messages to the studio. For campus news we often incorporate gathering interviews and vox pops into bulletins and shows with our portable recording equipment and this is given out in our local news show Lancaster Lunch as well as news stories from the surrounding local area. All members of the news team are given the opportunity to be fully bulletin trained. During outside broadcasts we provide Lancaster centric, on the hour news roundups, as well as updates of events as they happen.
The current head of news is Adéle James, and you can email her with the form below if you have any specific questions or if you're interested in joining the News team, and want to find out more.
