The production team, responsible for the overall sound of the radio station, creative masters of audio manipulation and how to make things sound fantastic. Their job is to produce any of the non-live content used in our radio output; Bailrigg FM jingles and stings, show and company adverts, audio packages for our big events, editing and polishing music and news team interviews -- anything and everything to make us sound as awesome as possible.
In the past we've won awards for our station sound, and as a member of the production team this year you'd be joining at an exciting time. We're looking to refresh the sound output of the whole station, creating new jingles, stings, beds and adverts, getting new voice work and reinventing our on air branding. This is a big task, something that doesn't take place very often, and unsurprisingly the head of production is rather excited about it.
As a DJ, picking up some skills in production can be very useful, allowing you to create features for your regular show, make your own audio inserts, and of course to show case your abilities when applying for any awards or jobs. Having an understanding of what goes into radio production is a vital pre-requisite for any work in mainstream radio, even if you're only hoping for a career as a DJ.
We're very privileged to have dedicated production facilities as part of a broadcast-capable studio within our station complex, including technology and software used widely within the industry. Any member of the station can request time in the production studio, but members of the production team have first priority.
